 A LESSON FROM THE DISHONEST ACTION 

 “I don't want perfect one I want an honest one.”                             

(Luke 16:1-13)

St. Luke registers for us a very exclusive parable that has instigated many difficulties in trying to comprehend it. This is one of the few times where someone’s dishonest action is appears to be admired by Jesus. The parable of venal steward is perplexing one, because the steward is not only admired for his manner but Jesus also presents him as a perfect example for his disciples to imitate. The parable Jesus sets up with the rich man who received  charge that his manager was carelessness with the rich man's possessions. The manager is called in to provide an account of his management and is informed that he will no longer serve as the manager.

Thus the manager was miss using the owner's possessions because of his management the owner decided to eliminate him. There is a hidden meaning in this parable. Before the comprehension of this meaning let us understand the two most important terms such as “Honesty” and “Stewardship.” These terms are closely related to today's parable. Honesty: It is a quality of being faith. And cantos positive and various attributes for example integrity, truthfulness, candour, fairness, justness, fidelity etc. In simple it’s an absence of lying and cheating someone. Stewardship: It refers to care for the whole world around us. Hence, more specifically refers to the health well-being of life on earth. It is an ethnic stewardship that embodies the responsibilities, planning and management. 

This concept can apply to environment and nature, economics, property and day to day responsibilities. What does the holy Bible admonish us? The Word of God unfolds the hidden realities of human beings. The Word of God brings genuine wisdom which is the greatest treasures. In the Old Testament the wisdom literature reveals the concept of honesty and stewardship. “Whoever says the truth give honest proof, but a false witness speaks dishonestly” (Prov 12:17). (Mt 5:8). Hence, it is so distinct that Honesty and stewardship are knitted together. We can't take one aspect to justify. There is tremendous amount of attachment among them. Honesty and stewardship in daily life: When we speak about honesty and stewardship, it may be applied to various life circumstances and situations and responsibilities. 

1- When we discuss about the stewardship of husband and wife who, are in a sexual exclusive marriage or in marital relationships it says: “Honesty enables people to have better personal relationships and social support to enjoy the pleasant, healthy and happy life.” 

2- When we speak about stewardship of parents with regard to their children it says: “To make your children capable of honesty is the beginning of education.” 
3- When the matter is about property, economical stewardship it denotes: “Honesty is the beat policy, if I lose my honor I loose myself.” 
4- When it comes to God’s command to protect the nature, it is called stewardship of God’s creation, it pronounces Pope Francis along with St. Francis proclaims that we are called to protect the people and planet and live in our faith with all God’s creation. 
5- When it is applied to friendship then it reveals: “Being an honest May not get you lot of friends but it always gets you a right one.”

Saint Matthew unfolds the dynamic, prophetic and apostolic stewardship. Where Jesus Christ entrusted the stewardship to his disciples to preach the good news to the poor and all the nations and to baptize them in the name of the Holy Trinity. This the apostles gave the affirmative reply to this stewardship with an honest heart. Therefore, their honesty to the confide responsibility brought joy to the whole world. They went till the end of the world. They preached the Good News, baptize the gentiles and converted the pagans.it due to the tremendous amount of honesty to the mission. 

Hence, each person is given a particular task, responsibility or a stewardship. Now one can foster a question that why Jesus chooses the parable of the dishonest steward? The answer is that Jesus wishes to teach us by the dishonest action. By this sentence the Lord turns into a Valium of rich instructions, and said if worldly, unrighteous, dishonest people are smart enough to make preparation for themselves on earth, why aren't the sons of light are making preparation for themselves in the eternal dwellings? Hence this is the climax of the parable. The summit of this parable leads us to prepare ourselves for the ultimate goal of our life. So that we may also find favour in the eyes of the heavenly Father. We can say honesty is one of the characteristics, it denotes the constancy of God in His relationships with the people. Someone said humility is the door of all virtues but I would say that the honesty is the house where all the virtues dwell and come out through the door of humility. If we are honest, we will be humble, if we are loyal we will be gentle and humble of heart. Therefore, let us ask the Lord to help us to be good, honest, loyal and trustworthy stewards as God wants and says. “Well done, good and faithful servant! You had been trustworthy with little things; therefore I would make you responsible for greater things. Enter into the joy of your master!” (Mt 25:23).

So, the opinion that Jesus is trying to express is one of a just steward rather than an unjust one. The unjust steward saw his master’s possessions as a resources for his own delicate pleasure and progression. Likewise, Jesus wishes His disciples to be loyal, blameless stewards. If we recognize the principle that everything we own is a gift from God, then we understand that God is the author of the whole universe and that we are His servants. As a matter of fact, we are to utilize the Master’s possessions for the master’s progress. In this precise instance, we are to be substantial with our prosperity and use it for the advantage of other people.   In this way God will surely reward us with unbelievable appreciations and blessings.
