"FEAST OF ST. MARK, THE EVANGELIST"
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we praise the incomparable
Feast of one of the Four Evangelists, to be specific that of St. Mark the
Evangelist, who was probably the earliest disciple of the Lord. As per Church
customs, St. Mark was one of the friends of the Apostles, and he communicated
intimately with the Apostles, proceeding with the works that the Lord had
shared with His supporters and adherents. In a few different customs, St. Mark
was related to one of the seventy educates that the Lord Jesus had shipped off
be His evangelists among individuals of God. In that capacity, St. Mark was
logical one of the observers of the numerous occasions encompassing the life
and service of the Lord.
St. Mark didn't just keep in touch with one of the four accepted Gospels,
the Gospel of St. Mark, yet he was additionally instrumental in the foundation
of the Church and its ordered progression in a few spots, most outstandingly in
Egypt, where he, at the end of the day, turned into the primary Bishop of
Alexandria. In those days, the Hellenistic city of Alexandria was the capital
of Roman Egypt and was the second most noteworthy city in the entire Roman
Empire. St. Mark assisted with developing the solid groundwork of the Church in
Egypt, which would from now on become one of the main places of Early
Christianity, and a focal point of numerous Christians and early Church
fathers.
St. Mark participated in a large number of the significant occasions in
the early Church, and was an extraordinary shepherd who devoted himself to his
run, helping the underpinning of a solid and living Christian people group in
Egypt, Africa and then some. He would later on be martyred for his confidence
as indicated by the apostolic custom, and he kicked the bucket a saint, subsequent to having carried
on with a most praiseworthy and devoted Christian life. St. Mark had shown us
all what being a Christian is tied in with, uncovering to us what Christian
apprenticeship is, and the way that we ought to be carrying on with our lives
in every single snapshots of our lives as obvious children and girls of God.
In the most memorable reading today, we heard from the Epistle of St.
Peter, the admonishment from the Prince of the Apostles of the calling that God
had made upon every single one of us, His cherished individuals. We are
completely called to be the ones to declare the reality of God to every single
one we experienced in our lives. We all are endowed with this equivalent
mission that the Lord had given to His Church, and as individuals from that
equivalent Church, we are all essential for this extraordinary exertion in
announcing the salvation and the adoration for God in our present reality. As
Christians, we should have that comprehension and acknowledgment that we are
called to stroll in the very way that St. Mark had once strolled previously.
This is everything the Lord Himself had said to us in our Gospel entry
today, as He told each of the devotees after His Resurrection, that He would
send His pupils to broadcast His Good News to every one of the edges of the
world. They will all go forward and spread the expressions of truth to
everybody they experience, and they will perform marvels and ponders in His
Name. They should get through sufferings, preliminaries and difficulties for
the good of He, and they will be oppressed, however just to be victorious with
God at the end. God will recall them and will save them all.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, as we heard these readings from the
Scriptures, we are altogether once more reminded that as the individuals who
have faith in God, as Christians, we are totally called to subscribe to
broadcast the Risen Lord in all our activities, words and dealings over the
course of life. We are totally given reality and the lessons of the Lord which
had been saved and given over to us from the Apostles and the numerous
different devotees like St. Mark, who had steadfastly kept the Christian
confidence alive and consuming great even all through the most troublesome and
testing crossroads throughout the entire existence of the Church.
What's more, what are we going to do about it, brothers and sisters in
Christ? Are we not going to continue in that frame of mind of St. Mark and
different Apostles, teaches, holy people and saints of God, those who had
devoted their lives and endeavors to celebrate God by their lives and
activities? There are numerous valuable open doors that had been given to us,
and we need to see the value in exactly that we are so honored to have been
inclined toward by God accordingly. We should not assume that we have this
confidence with us, however we need to keep on supporting it and permit it to
develop, that we might be incredible motivations for some others.
Let all of us accordingly endeavor to give our all to broadcast the Risen
Lord, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, following the instances of St. Mark
and different Apostles and followers of the Lord. May we all give our all to broadcast Him and His reality,
His adoration and benevolence to the entire world through our own words,
activities and deeds? May the Lord
accompany all of us and may He favor our activities and reinforce all of us
with the goal that we may generally at any point be valiant to do His will, and
be His observers any place we are, and in anything valuable open doors we get.
St. Mark the Evangelist, blessed worker of God, appeal to God for us! Amen.
